Our Reserve The Tangaré Foundation maintains a Cooperation Agreement since its creation in 2009 with the La Hesperia Cloud Forest Reserve for the management and protection of the natural resources in the area. 1730 acres of unique biodiversity The Tropical Andes The Chocó-Darien La Hesperia Nature Reserve is located at a unique site where 2 out of 5 biodiversity hotspots in South-America converge. It part of the National System of Protected Areas within the Protective Forest Toachi-Pilatón. It is also located in the Rio Toachi-Chiriboga IBA (Important Bird Area). These regions are identified by high levels of endemism (many species can not be found anywhere else in the world), a huge species diversity and high vulnerability to climate change.
